![]() In any case, I'll have to make the game running with DxWnd first, so be patient and let me try. ) about 10 times more CPU power.Ī possible hope to get quality and speed could be using the OpenGL or D3D9 renderers that, depending on your video card, drivers and libraries, could transfer the burden of filtering to the video card shaders. ![]() Now, even with newer computers, running it at 2100x900 stretched (with filtering) to a crazy 3440x1440 desktop resolution could be overwhelming.Īnything related to pixel processing depends on the square (that is, the power of 2) of the resolution, so a game running at the standard 800圆00 resolution that is scaled to 3440x1440 would take (let me do some calculations. I recall having tried it at the time of Warcraft II and others, and the requirements for this one were much higher. The status window says it is hooked, but it is definitely not windowed and the splash screen is not displayed.įirst of all, let's agree that we are talking about the first "Total Annihilation" from 1997 and not its following chapter, Kingdoms. I tried a lot of settings and cannot get it to hook. It doesn't load in a window, barely any settings actually change anything, but some do stop it loading completely. This one will not even hook onto the game at all. I couldn't get it to work with any settings, so decided to download the newest version of DXWnd and see if there was any newer settings that might help me. So, I decided to try and fix the above pixelated issue, allowing me to use DXWnd again. But I was missing the windowed aspect of it and being able to alt+tab quickly and easily. I haven't been using DXWnd for a while, partly because of the above issue, and because there is a registry tweak I came across that allows you to improve performance. If I set filtering to Full Bilinear, it looks nice and smooth, but performance takes a big hit. Almost like it doesn't handle the stretching of the 2100x900 window across the bigger resolution very well? This is hard to explain. If I set my Windows resolution to 2100x900, the same as TA, then it will be much better looking, but I don't want to adjust my Windows resolution before every game. ![]() It's more noticeable on the text at the top where your resource bars are. ![]() If I don't use filtering, the game seems overly pixelated. First, I can use an old version of DXWnd just fine. So there's actually two things I would like help with if possible. I have been using DXWnd for a long time so thank you for this software. ![]()
